Labour County Council wastes £56,000 on glossy magazine

Local Conservatives have condemned Labour run Staffordshire County Council over a glossy magazine costing Council Tax payers £56,000.  The production of the 'Your Staffordshire' magazine, which is delivered free across the county, is an attempt to raise the flagging popularity of the Labour administration after a series of controversial and unpopular decisions.

Councillor Frank Bather is angry that taxpayers' money being spent to produce a publication simply to tell people how good their county council is.

He said: "They are spending a small fortune on this publication – money that could have been spent on providing vital services. You have to ask yourself, can we afford to finance this type of publicity when closing homes and talking of selling off our land?"
